I am of Ngapuhi Nui Tonu and Ngāti Porou descent.
I have an extensive background in review and audit within the education and health sectors that extends from 1975 to the present. Within the same period of time I have held senior positions of responsibility within government and non-government agencies.
I am a former primary school principal, teacher, education review and auditor but more recently I was an Associate Professor in Education and Indigenous Studies.
I have contributed as a director; trustee and chair of iwi focussed boards of governance within Treaty of Waitangi claims processes; land development and Maori advancement. I also maintain an extensive support and mentoring role to groups and individuals at local, regional, national and international levels focusing on cultural balance and good practice in governance and management.
My wife Rosalind Simich and I reside within the Waiomio Valley, Northland our farm.
